Season of Change
“Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end.”
~Robin Sharma
This is my favorite time of year here in central North Carolina, and I know I’m not the only one. I’ve heard several people say the same thing in the last few days. Even though we just got our first frost, it rarely gets bitter cold here. It just cools down enough for a sweater or light jacket, and our skies retain their deep blue color throughout the season. I love watching the colors of the leaves deepen from day to day.
The foliage isn’t the only thing changing this month, though. In order to open up some time for my other projects, I’ll be adjusting my blogging schedule. For now I’ll be publishing posts every other Wednesday starting on November 17.
Much as I like blogging—and I really do—I also enjoy writing articles, doing copy editing, and working on books. For a writer, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of seeing your words in print.
This week I was published in both Writer’s Digest magazine and Scout Life (formerly Boys’ Life). I’m in the process of creating a new Publications page on this site so that you can check out some of my other writing. I’ll keep you posted.
For more than a year I’ve also been assisting my sister with her upcoming book for family caregivers. It’s an exciting project, and one I believe in wholeheartedly. I can’t wait to see her words in print as well!
If you came to my website later in its life cycle, you may have missed a lot of posts! You can always go to the Blog page and use the arrow at the bottom of the page to get to previous offerings (more than 100 of them!), all the way back to the first one.
You can also use the Search function (the small magnifying glass icon) at the top right of any page to search on a particular topic (for example, acceptance or forgiveness) and it will display a list of posts that mention that keyword.
One new idea I am exploring is the creation of a few fun products related to the blog. I’m envisioning greeting cards, journals, bookmarks, mugs, coasters, magnets, and other small gift items with some of my encouraging sayings on them. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I’m excited about the possibilities.
I’m also in a celebratory mood because this week marks a milestone for the blog! November 13th is the two-year anniversary of The Authentic Lane. The time has passed so quickly! I’m learning so much, and I hope you are too.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your kind comments about my writing and your positive engagement with the website. This site is a labor of love, and your support means so much to me!
As with any transition, I suspect it will take all of us a little while to get used to this change to the new every-other-week schedule. Thank you for continuing to accompany me on this journey on The Authentic Lane.
Affectionately,
Elaine
